By means of which the memory of an eminent Colombian is extolated and other provisions are dictated.

THE CONGRESS OF COLOMBIA,

DECRETA:

ARTICLE 1o. The Republic of Colombia honors and enlists the figure of the illustrious Colombian doctor Fernando Gómez Martínez, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth to be celebrated on the 1st. of March 1997.

ARTICLE 2o. That during his long public career, Dr. Fernando Gomez Martinez held the posts of Mayor of Santa Fe de Antioquia and Medellin, Councilman of Santa Fe de Antioquia dos (2) times, Governor of Antioquia, Deputy to the Departmental Assembly of Antioquia, Representative to the Chamber, Senator of the Republic, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to the Netherlands and Ambassador to the Holy See.

ARTICLE 3o. The Congress of the Republic in recognition of such a public man, will place a plaque on the premises of the newspaper El Colombiano of the city of Medellín, a newspaper from which he was a director. and Director Emeritus until the day of his death, said plaque shall have the following caption:

"The Congress of the Republic to the illustrious Figure of Dr. Fernando Gómez Martínez on the occasion of the Centennial of his Birth".

ARTICLE 4. Publish by the House of Representatives within the collection "Colombian Political Thinkers", all writings, speeches, essays, lectures and other literary productions, which represent the ideological spiritual patrimony of such a scholar and prestigious man.

ARTICLE 5o. This law governs from the date of its enactment.
