By means of which the treatment allowance received by the sick person from leprosy is raised to the value of a monthly minimum wage.

COLOMBIA CONGRESS

DECRETA:

ARTICLE 1o. Amend article 5 of Law 148 of 1961, which will remain so:

" Hansen's sufferers and Hansen's so-called social care workers, who receive the monthly treatment allowance from the National Government, to cover their basic needs, will have the right to be paid the equivalent of the of a statutory monthly minimum wage, starting from the first (1o) of July 1997.

PARAGRAFO 1o. The payment of treatment allowance to the leprosy patient is not incompatible with another assignment from the Public Treasury.

PARAGRAFO 2o. The treatment allowance will be increased annually in the same proportion as the monthly minimum wage is increased.

PARAGRAFO 3o. Health care services for leprosy and social care workers, will continue to be provided by the Ministry of Health through their social enterprises or any other specialized agency to which assign those functions.

ARTICLE 2o. The quotas that go to death of the leprosy patients receiving subsidies will be filled by those who are sick with leprosy do not receive State aid for the coverage of their basic needs in housing, food and clothing.

ARTICLE 3o. This law governs from its publication and repeals any provisions that are contrary to it.
