Having regard to the text of the Agreement on Cooperation in Tourism between the Republic of Colombia and the Kingdom of Spain, signed in Bogotá, on 9 June 2000, nine hundred and ninety-five (1995).

TOURISM COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN

THE REPUBLIC OF COLOMBIA AND THE KINGDOM OF SPAIN

The Republic of Colombia and The Kingdom of Spain

Considering the ties of traditional friendship that unite Colombia and Spain.

Recognizing the importance that tourism can have in the development of the economy and in the strengthening of relations between the two countries.

Valorating the need to increase tourism relations between the two countries.

Encouraged by the spirit that led them to sign the General Cooperation and Friendship Treaty of 29 October 1992 and with the aim of achieving their development.

Highlighting its willingness to expand its cooperation in a spirit of equity and support for common interests.

AGREE THE FOLLOWING:

ARTICLE 1o. Both Parties will devote special attention to the development and expansion of current tourism relations and the increase in tourism between Colombia and Spain, as a means for their peoples can improve the mutual knowledge of their respective histories, ways of life and cultures, and to facilitate inter-business cooperation in tourism.

ARTICLE 2o. Both Parties will support cooperation between the two countries ' tourism sectors, both governmental and business, and will arbitrate the way to exchange regular experts in tourism promotion and marketing, training and research, tourism technology, as well as in the development of activities and areas of tourist interest.

ARTICLE 3o. Both Parties will collaborate, to the extent of their possibilities, in the promotion and development of the tourism sectors of the two countries through the following actions:

(a) Interchange technical missions to carry out studies on the tourist possibilities of the areas to be determined;

b) Encourage the exchange of business missions that assess the business opportunity and the possibility of investing in tourism;

c) Carry out cooperation programmes aimed at promoting or promoting tourism, especially when promoting the types of specialised tourism which may contribute to the differential development of regions and development sustainable tourism activity in each of the two countries;

d) Support cooperation in the recovery of historic buildings for tourism purposes;

e) Promoting the collaboration of experts in legal matters related to the tourism sector.

Also, exchange information on current tourism legislation in each of the two countries;

f) Facilitate the dissemination of the other country's tourism possibilities and offers in its own;

g) Exchange information on experiences related to tourism promotion. Similarly, exchange of publications and promotional material, where appropriate;

h) Promote the reciprocal transfer of technology related to the development of tourism, with special application in promotion and marketing activities between the two countries and against third parties.

ARTICLE 4. The two Parties will support cooperation in the field of professional tourism training, will provide each other with information on tourism education plans and collaborate in the field of tourism. training of managers of tourism enterprises and technicians in the sector.

ARTICLE 5o. Both Parties will stimulate their collaboration in the implementation of tourism research programs on topics of mutual interest, both through Universities and Research Centers.

ARTICLE 6o. Both Parties will exchange information on tourism development programs in their respective countries, as well as on national and international funding. can be applied to these programmes.

ARTICLE 7o. Both Parties shall inform each other of the technical-tourist meetings and seminars that may be held in their respective countries, and shall ensure the active or passive participation of their technical in those acts.

ARTICLE 8. The provisions of this agreement are without prejudice to the obligations arising out of each of the Parties to the Treaties or International Conventions signed for their respective countries.

ARTICLE 9o. Both Parties decide to set up a Joint Committee on Tourism Cooperation to ensure the implementation of this agreement and at any time to suggest appropriate measures for its implementation or update.

Joint Commission will be composed of representatives of the Tourism Administrations of the two countries, and will meet alternately in Colombia and Spain on the dates to be determined by common accord.

ARTICLE 10. This agreement shall enter into force on the day the Parties have notified each other of the completion of the internal constitutional procedures required for their entry into force.

It will remain in force for an initial period of two years and will be extended by tacit renewal for successive periods of two years.

Any Party may terminate this Agreement by means of a written notification by diplomatic means at least three months before the date of expiry.

The denunciation of this agreement shall not affect the projects that are in the process of being implemented, nor the guarantees and facilities established for its implementation, unless expressly stated and written by the two Parties.

ARTICLE 1B. I approved the Agreement on Cooperation in Tourism between the Republic of Colombia and the Kingdom of Spain, signed in Bogotá, on June 9, one thousand nine hundred and ninety-five (1995).

ARTICLE 2B. In accordance with the provisions of Article 1o. of Law 7a. In 1994, the Agreement on Cooperation in Tourism between the Republic of Colombia and the Kingdom of Spain, signed in Bogotá, on 9 June 2000, nine hundred and ninety-five, (1995), which, by the first article of this Law, is approved, will force the country as from the date on which the international link with respect to it is improved.
