By means of which the Nation pays homage and is associated with the Municipality of Corinth (Cauca) to the celebration of the 200 years of the birth of the Insigne General
Jose Maria Obando and is ordered to carry out infrastructure works.
THE CONGRESS OF COLOMBIA,
CONSIDERING:
In August, the citizenry of Corinth, Department of Cauca, celebrates the 200 years of the birth of the illustrious General José María Obando;
General Obando is one of the most brilliant public figures in our history, who and with his executors honored the high interests of the country;
Presidency of the Republic of Colombia was characterized by its democratic virtues and its immense value as a man of state,
DECRETA:
ARTICLE 1o. The Nation pays tribute and is associated with the community of Corinth, municipality of the Department of Cauca, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 200 years of the birth of the insignia General José María Obando, held from 1o. to 8 August 1995.
ARTICLE 2o. As of the validity of this law and in accordance with Articles 334, 339, 341, of the National Constitution, authorize the National Government to allocate within the budget of the 1996, 1997, 1998, the sums needed to implement the construction and refurbishment of the following social interest:
a) Municipal Administrative Center, CAM, of Corinth, which will bear the name of the illustrious general, for the sum of five hundred million pesos ($500,000,000.00);
b) Corinto Market Square Remodeling (Cauca), for the sum of one hundred million pesos ($100,000,000.00);
c) Remodeling, expansion and endowment of the José María Obando school of Corinth (Cauca), for the sum of three hundred million pesos ($300,000,000.00);
d) Corinto (Cauca) Polideportive for the sum of one hundred million pesos ($100,000,000.00);
e) Likewise the construction of a school that will carry the name of the illustrious General José María Obando, in the corregimiento of the Rosal, Municipality of Subachhoque (Cundinamarca), site in which General Obando died, by the sum of fifty millions of pesos ($50,000,000.00).
ARTICLE 3o. For the purposes of Article 2, the aforementioned municipalities shall submit to the National Planning Department the respective designs.
ARTICLE 4. Authorize the National Government to conduct the budgetary operations and contracts necessary to comply with the provisions of this Law.
ARTICLE 5o. This Act governs from the date of its publication.
