LAW NO. 20,214 SANCTIONS NEW CRIMES AGAINST CHILEAN GENDARMERIE OFFICIALS Having present that the National Congress has given its approval to the following Bill: " Single article.-Add in decree law No. 2,859, 1979, The following Articles 15 A, 15 B, 15 C and 15 D: " Article 15 A.-The one that will kill a member of the Gendarmerie of Chile during the performance of his duties or because of his or her duties. They shall be punished with the penalty of imprisonment in their maximum degree to be held in perpetual imprisonment. Article 15 B.-The one who will hurt, beat or maltreat a member of the Gendarmerie of Chile during the performance of his duties or in reason of them, will be punished: 1. With the penalty of greater prison in his middle grade, if of the result of the Injuries will be the demented, useless for the work, impotent, prevented from some important or remarkably deformed member. 2. With a minimum degree of imprisonment to a minimum degree of imprisonment, if the injury caused the offence or incapacity for work for more than thirty days. 3. With minor prison at maximum degree, if I cause less serious injuries. 4. With a minimum degree of imprisonment, or a fine of six to eleven monthly tax units, if I give you minor injuries. Article 15 C.-The penalties laid down in Articles 395 and 396 of the Penal Code shall be increased to a degree when the crimes that these precepts establish are committed against a Gendarmerie official of Chile who will be in the performance of the of their duties or on the grounds of their duties. Article 15 D.-The person who will threaten a member of the Gendarmerie of Chile in the terms of Articles 296 and 297 of the Penal Code during the performance of his duties or in the course of his duties, shall be punished with the maximum degree of the penalties provided for in such articles for the various types of threats referred to by them.
