DECREE NO. 3,499, OF June 5, 2000.

Disposes on the execution of the Twenty-Seventh Additional Protocol to the Economic Supplementation Agreement No. 2 (Automotive Vehicles), among the Governments of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, of April 28, 2000.

THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC, in the exercise of the post of PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC, in the use of the assignment that confers the art. 84, inciso IV, of the Constitution,

CONSIDERING that the Treaty of Montevideo of 1980, which created the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI), firmed up by Brazil on August 12, 1980 and approved by the National Congress, by the Legislative Decree No. 66 of November 16, 1981, provides for the modality of Economic Supplementation Agreement;

CONSIDERING that the Plenipotentiaries of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Eastern Republic of the Uruguay, on the basis of the Treaty of Montevideo of 1980, signed, on December 20, 1982, in Montevideo, the Economic Supplementation Agreement No. 2, between the Governments of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, which was incorporated into the Brazilian legal planning by means of the Decree No. 88,419 of June 20, 1983;

CONSIDERING that the Plenipotentiaries of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, on the basis of the Treaty of Montevideo of 1980 signed on April 28, 2000, in Montevideo the twentieth Additional Protocol to the economic supplementation Agreement No. 2 (Automotive Vehicles), between the Governments of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Republic Eastern Uruguay;

DECRETA:

Art. 1º The Twenty-Seventh Additional Protocol to the Economic Supplementation Agreement No. 2 (Automotive Vehicles), among the Governments of the Federative Republic of Brazil and of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, apensed by copy to the present Decree, will be executed and fulfilled as entirely as it contains.

Art. 2º This Decree comes into effect on the date of its publication.

AGREEMENT OF ECONOMIC COMPETEMENT NO 2 CELEBRATES BETWEEN THE FEDERATIVE REPUBLIC OF BRAZIL and the eastern Republic of the Uruguayan

Twenty-Seventh Additional Protocol

The Plenipotentiaries of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, accredited by their respective Governments second powers that were bestowed in good and due form, deposited opportunely at the General Secretariat of the Association.

DECK IN:

Article 1º The Federative Republic of Brazil outorts to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, for the period from 1º to May 2000 and 30 of June 2000, a quota of two thousand and sixty seven units of automotive vehicles, classified in the NALADISA 87.02, 87.03 and 87.04 positions, for any category.

Article 2º Eastern Republic of Uruguay outorga to the Federative Republic of Brazil, for the period between 1º May 2000 and June 30, 2000, a quota of six hundred and sixty seven units of automotive vehicles, ranked in the NALADISA 87.03 E 87.04 positions, for units of up to 4,000 Kg of total gross weight.

Article 3º The units of automotive vehicles set out in the quotas heard by the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay in the Twenty-Sixth Additional Protocol, which have not been used in the period 1º from January to April 30, 2000, may be availed in the period from 1º to May 2000 a to June 30, 2000, without prejudice to the quotas set out in Articles 1º and 2º of this Protocol.

Article 4º Fixed as a source standard 60/40% par with the models in production and 55/45% for the new models.

Article 5º The percentage of regional source parts applicable to the models in production under Article 4º of the Tenth-Century Additional Protocol to ACE No. 2 will be 25%.

Article 6º The present Protocol shall apply from 1º May 2000 to June 30, 2000.

General Secretary of the Association shall be a depositary of this Protocol, of which it shall send copies duly authenticated to the signatory Governments.

IN FÉ THAN, THE RESPECTIVE PLENIPOTENTIARIES subscribe to this Protocol in the city of Montevideo, at the twenty-eight days of the month of April two thousand, in an original in the Spanish languages and Portuguese, being both texts being equally valid.
