DECREE OF December 13, 2002

Cria the Maracanan Extractial Reserve, in the Municipality of Maracanã, in the State of Pará, and gives other arrangements.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC, in the use of the attribution conferring you the art. 84, inciso IV, of the Constitution, and in view of the provisions of art. 18 of Law No. 9,985 of July 18, 2000 and in Decree No 4,340 of August 22, 2002,

D E C R E T A:

Art. 1º It is created the Maracanã Extractivist Reservation, in the Municipality of Maracanã, in the State of Pará, with the objectives of ensuring sustainable use and conservation of renewable natural resources, protecting the livelihoods and culture of the population local extractiseen.

Art. 2º The Maracanã Extractivist Reservation covers an area of approximately thirty thousand and eighteen hectares and eighty-eight centials, based on the Folhas MI 337 and MI 338, on scale 1:100.000, published by the Directorate of Geographical Service-DSG of the Brazilian Army, with the following descriptive memorial: departing from Point 01, of approximate geographical coordinates 47 ° 24 ` 46.16 ¿ WGr and 0 ° 58 ` 34.96 ¿ S, located at the mouth of the Igarapé Mato Grosso, on the divisional line of the Municipalities of Maracana and Igarapé-Suú; Art. 3º The Office of the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources-IBAMA administer the Maracanan Extractivist Reserve by adopting the necessary measures to its effective implantation by formalizing the contract for free use with the traditional extraction population, for the purpose of its celebration by the Office of the Union Heritage of the Ministry of Plenary, Budget and Management, and to monitor compliance with the conditions in it in the form of the law.

Art. 4º This Decree shall enter into force on the date of its publication.
