HERNAN MISSILES ZUAZO CONSTITUTIONAL PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC

For the Honorable National Congress has sanctioned the following Law: THE NATIONAL CONGRESS, D E C R E T A: C O N S I D E R A N D O: That, by Supreme Decree No 5425 of 17 May 1960 in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the State and Decree Law No. 4315 of 9 February 1956, raised to the rank of Law on 26 December 1959, The Executive Branch has called for elections for President and Vice President-President of the Republic, those that were held on the 5th of June of the year in progress; That in the report of the National Electoral Court, elevated to this Honorable Congress, as prescribed in Article 232 of the Electoral Statute, the following total results of the plebiscite held in the whole Republic. FOR PRESIDENT OF THE NATION 1.-Citizen Victor Paz Estenssoro, of the MNR .................... 735,619 votes 2.-Citizen Walter Guevara Arze, of the PMNRA ............... 139,713? 3.-Citizen Mario Gutiérrez Gutiérrez, d FSB .................. 78,963? 4.-Communist Party of Bolivia, without candid to ................... 10.934? 5.-Citizen Hugo Gonzales Moscoso, of POR ................ 1,420? FOR VICE-PRESIDENT 1.-Citizen Juan Lechin Oquendo of the MNR .................... 735,619 votes 2.-Citizen Jorge Rios Gamarra of the PMNRA ................. 139,713? 3.-Citizen Antonio Anze Jiménez del F B. ..................... 78,963? 4.-Communist Party of Bolivia, without candid cough ................... 10.934? 5.-Citizen Fernando Bravo of the P.O.R. ........................... 1,420? C O N S I D E R A N D O: That of the above data, coincident with those that casts the scrutiny practiced by the Powers Commissions of the Legislative Chambers, it is established that the citizens Victor Paz Estenssoro and Juan Lechin Oquendo, have obtained the majority required by the Constitution and the laws to exercise the positions of President and Constitutional Vice-President of the Republic. C O N S I D E R A N D O: Which, according to the art. 89 of the Constitution of the State, the proclamation of President and Vice President of the Republic must be announced to the Nation by Law. D E C R E T A: Article 1. Proclamase Constitutional President of the Republic of Bolivia to citizen Victor Paz Estenssoro and Constitutional Vice President of the same, to the citizen Juan Lechin Oquendo, for the Constitutional period of 6 of August 1960, August 6, 1964. Article 2. The oath of law, and the solemn investiture of the proclaimed citizens, will take place in the session of the Honorable National Congress of August 6, 1960 with the ceremonial style.
