For how much, the H. National Congress has sanctioned the following Law:

THE NATIONAL CONGRESS,

DECCRETA:

ArtA-arse 1A ° †" and under the protection of the State the tree of Quina Callisaya or Chinchona.

ArtA-ass 2A ° †" The quina exploiters of wild or natural trees, will be in the inescapable obligation to repopulate the exploited areas by sowing and cultivating a mA-nimum of 12 trees for each wild downed or 25 for each A spaA ± ol from an extract-to-da rind. The plantation quina exploiters will also have the obligation to replenish at least one plant for each of the downed tree. From the 1st of November, 1943, no operations of purchase-sale of bark will be carried out without the prior presentation of a certificate of the provincial authorities that accredit the fulfillment of the present dispositions. The offence will be punishable by the fine of three hundred Bolivians (Bs. 300,†") by quintal of extract-A bark of wild trees and with two hundred Bolivians (Bs.200,†") by bark of tree plantations.

ArtA-ass 3A ° †" It is recognized as only taxes on the bark of quina the 10% ad-valorem created by law of April 17, 1941 and 6% to the purchase-sale law of December 9 of the same -no reason or circumstance can be increased, with the purchase-sale within the country and the export exonerated of any other national, departmental and municipal tax. These taxes may be reduced as long as the contribution of the Bolivian quina abroad does not allow for advantageous competition with the bark of other origins.

Article 4A ° †" The tax of 10% ad-valorem and the fines (a) to be imposed on the offenders of Article 2A (a), shall be allocated to works of road and other public works in the provinces from which the quina is extracted, and the 6% tax on sale, to the Ministry of Agriculture to maintain a participation that cares exclusively and in charge of a single, a pattern and other expert staff, to direct the scientific cultivation of the quina by selecting seeds, choosing suitable lands, to combat diseases, pests, etc., as well as to award pecuniary and honorary prizes to the ranchers who cultivate the greater quantities of trees and produce the best ones

ArtA-ass 5A ° †" The sale and export of quine bark and quinine sulfate made in the paA-s, without limitations or restrictions of any nature, is declared free. The national bricas of quinine sulfate and the derivatives of the bark, will acquire the crust paying the international price that rija for the export, not being able to obtain franchises or exclusivities of no more.

ArtA-culo 6A ° †" The Executive Branch will plan the cooperation between the national quinine sulfate bricas and the quina bark producers, on advantageous terms and on the right-hand conditions.

7A ° †" provisions contrary to this law are hereby repealed.
