10 AOUT 1998. - Act enacting the Protocol to the Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation establishing a Partnership between the European Communities and their Member States, on the one hand, and the Russian Federation, on the other, signed in Brussels on 21 May 1997 (1) (2)

The Chambers adopted and We sanction the following:
Article 1^er. This Act regulates a matter referred to in Article 77 of the Constitution.
Art. 2. The Protocol to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement establishing a partnership between the European Communities and their Member States, on the one hand, and the Russian Federation, on the other, signed in Brussels on 21 May 1997, will emerge its full effect.
Promulgate this law, order that they be clothed with the seal of the State and published by the Belgian Monitor.
Given at Châteauneuf-de-Grasse on 10 August 1998.

Contracting Parties to the Treaty establishing the European Community, the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community and the Treaty establishing the European Atomic Energy Community,
below referred to as "member states", and
The European Community, the European Coal and Steel Community and the European Atomic Energy Community,
hereinafter referred to as "Community",
on the one hand, and
Russian Federation,
on the other hand,
having regard to the accession of the Republic of Austria, the Republic of Finland and the Kingdom of Sweden to the European Union and thus to the Community on 1^er January 1995
agreed on the following provisions:
Article 1^er
The Republic of Austria, the Republic of Finland and the Kingdom of Sweden are parties to the partnership and cooperation agreement establishing a partnership between the European Communities and their Member States, on the one hand, and the Russian Federation, on the other, signed in Corfu on 24 June 1994, referred to as "agreement", and adopt or take note, respectively, in the same way as the other Member States of the Community, of the texts of the agreement, as well as
Article 2
The texts of the agreement, the final act and all the documents attached to it are prepared in Finnish and Swedish languages. They are attached to the present protocol and are equally authentic as the texts of the agreement, the final act and the documents attached to it and absolved in other languages.
Article 3
This protocol is made in duplicate in German, English, Danish, Spanish, Finnish, French, Greek, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish and Russian languages, each of these texts being equally authentic.
Article 4
The protocol is approved by the parties in accordance with their own procedures.
This protocol comes into force on the first day of the second month following the date on which the parties notify themselves of the completion of the procedures referred to in the first paragraph.
Done in Brussels, the twenty-one May nine hundred and ninety-seven.
