Limit and control values for stations
aboard passenger vessels
(Implementation rules)
The Conference of the Contracting Parties,
Recalling its resolution CDNI 2009-II-4 on limit and control values for sewage stations on board passenger vessels, as set out in Annex 2 - Appendix V to the Convention,
Considering that additional implementation arrangements would be necessary to ensure the operational maintenance of the new standards,
in light of articles 14 and 19 of the Convention on the Collection, Deposit and Receipt of Wastes in Rhine and Inland Navigation,
notes the agreement of all Contracting Parties with this resolution,
adopts the 2010 version of Appendix V, replacing Appendix V in Resolution 2009-II-4 on Limit and Control Values for Passenger Vessel Water Treatment Plants, as an annex.
This resolution will enter into force on 1er July 2010.

Limit and control values for stations
aboard passenger vessels
1. The sewage stations on board passenger vessels shall respect the following limit values during the type test:
Table 1: Limit values to be met at the disposal of the dashing station (test facility) during the type test

(1) Contracting States may use equivalent methods.
(2) Instead of chemical oxygen demand (COD), it is also possible to use total organic carbon (OTC) for the type test
2. The following control values shall be respected during operation:
Table 2: Limit values for the evacuation of the on-board sewage station during the operation of passenger vessels in inland navigation

(1) Contracting States may use equivalent methods.
(2) Instead of chemical oxygen demand (COD), it is also possible to use total organic carbon (OTC) for the type test
The corresponding value must be met by the sample. Competent authorities must take samples at varying intervals.
3. Processes with chlorinated products are not allowed.
Similarly, a dilution of domestic wastewater to reduce the specific load and allow the removal of it is not allowed.
Transitional provisions for passenger vessels
Application Regulations, Appendix 2, Part C, Item 9.01
The Conference of the Contracting Parties,
Considering that the transitional deadlines set out in the Convention's Regulations have expired,
aware that possible additional deadlines must be as limited as possible in view of the expected ecological objective,
notes that each Contracting Party may decide that the provision of Article 9.01 under item 3. of Annex 2, Part C of the Convention may apply to all or part of its waterway network at a later date than that contained in the above-mentioned article; However, the deadline for December 31, 2011 should not be exceeded,
Requests the representatives of the Contracting Parties concerned to inform the Executive Secretariat of any action on this matter.
