28 DECEMBER 2011. - An Act to amend the Royal Decree of 1er December 1975, establishing a general regulation on the road traffic police and the use of the public highway to allow cyclists to cross traffic lights in certain cases (1)



ALBERT II, King of the Belgians,
To all, present and to come, Hi.
The Chambers adopted and We sanction the following:
Article 1er. This Act regulates a matter referred to in Article 78 of the Constitution.
Art. 2. Article 61 of the Royal Decree of 1er December 1975, amending the Royal Decree of 17 October 2001 on the General Regulations on the Police of Road Traffic and the Use of the Public Channel, is supplemented by the following point:
"61.5. A panel of models B22 and B23, as provided in section 67.3, may modify the meaning of the signals of the tricolor system in favour of cyclists. "
Art. 3. In section 67 of the same order the following amendments are made:
1° Article 67.3, as amended by the Royal Decree of 18 September 1991, is supplemented by the following two paragraphs:
"The B22 panel allows cyclists to cross the three-colored light signals mentioned in section 61 to turn right when these are either red or yellow-orange, provided they give the passage to the other road users circulating on the public road or the road.

The B23 panel allows cyclists to cross the three-colored light signals referred to in section 61 to continue straight when these are either red or yellow-orange, provided that they cede the passage to any other driver circulating on the public track or roadway from the red or yellow-orange light. »;

2° Article 67.4 is supplemented by point 3° written as follows:
« 3° The B23 priority signal can only be used if cyclists should not cut off traffic flow. "
Art. 4. The King may amend, repeal or replace the provisions amended by this Act.
Promulgate this law, order that it be clothed with the seal of the State and published by the Belgian Monitor.
