To all, present and to come, Hi.
The Chambers adopted and We sanction the following:
Article 1er. This Act regulates a matter referred to in Article 78 of the Constitution.
Art. 2. § 1. For the purposes of this Act, "IMO maritime conventions" means the following international acts:
1° the 1966 International Convention on Charge Lines, made in London on 5 April 1966;
2° the 1969 International Convention on the Measurement of Ships, made in London on 23 June 1969;
3° the 1972 International Convention on the Safety of Containers, made in Geneva on 2 December 1972;
4° the 1973 International Convention for the Prevention of Ship Pollution, made in London on 2 November 1973;
5° the 1974 International Convention for the Protection of Human Life at Sea, made in London on 1er November 1974;
6° the 1978 Protocol on the 1973 International Convention for the Prevention of Ship Pollution, done in London on 17 February 1978;
7° the 1978 Protocol on the 1974 International Convention for the Protection of Human Life at Sea, done in London on 17 February 1978;
8° the International Convention on Standards for the Training of Seafarers, the Granting of Patents and Watch, made in London on 7 July 1978;
9° the 1988 Protocol on the 1966 International Convention on Lines of Charge, done in London on 11 November 1988;
10° the 1988 Protocol on the 1974 International Convention for the Protection of Human Life at Sea, done in London on 11 November 1988;
11° the 1997 Protocol amending the 1973 International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution by Ships, as amended by the 1978 Protocol thereto, made in London on 26 September 1997;
12° the 2001 International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-fouling Systems on Ships, made in London on 5 October 2001.
§ 2. For the purposes of this Act, "IMO" means the International Maritime Organization.
Art. 3. By derogation from Article 8 of the Law of 31 May 1961 on the use of languages in legislative matters, the presentation, publication and entry into force of legal and regulatory texts, the texts of the technical codes adopted by the IMO and to which the maritime conventions of the IMO refer are published by a notice in Dutch and French in the Belgian Monitor, mentioning the adoption by the IMO of the technical code concerned, without the text of the relevant technical code.
Art. 4. By derogation from Article 8 of the Law of 31 May 1961 on the use of languages in legislative matters, the presentation, publication and entry into force of the legal and regulatory texts, the following amendments to the maritime conventions of the IMO and the technical codes to which the maritime conventions of the IMO refer are published by a notice in Dutch and French in the Belgian Monitor, mentioning the adoption of the amendment by the IMO and the
1° the amendments adopted on the basis of Article 29 of the 1966 International Convention on Lines of Charge, made in London on 5 April 1966;
2° the amendments adopted on the basis of Article 18 of the 1969 International Convention on the Measurement of Ships, made in London on 23 June 1969;
3° the amendments adopted on the basis of Article 9 and 10 of the 1972 International Convention on the Safety of Containers, made in Geneva on 2 December 1972;
4° the amendments adopted on the basis of Article 16 of the 1973 International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution by Ships, made in London on 2 November 1973 and on the basis of the provisions of the 1978 Protocol on the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution by Ships, made in London on 17 February 1978, and the 1997 Protocol amending the 1973 International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution by Ships, as amended by the 1978 Protocol, make reference to it
5° the amendments adopted on the basis of Article VIII of the 1974 International Convention for the Protection of Human Life at Sea, made in London on 1er November 1974, and the provisions of the 1978 Protocol on the 1974 International Convention for the Protection of Human Life at Sea, made in London on 17 February 1978, and the 1988 Protocol on the 1974 International Convention for the Protection of Human Life at Sea, made in London on 11 November 1988, which refer to this article;
6° the amendments adopted on the basis of Article XII of the International Convention on Standards of Training of Seafarers, Granting of Patents and Watchkeeping, made in London on 7 July 1978;
7° the amendments adopted on the basis of Article VI of the 1988 Protocol relating to the 1966 International Convention on Charge Lines, made in London on 11 November 1988;
8° the amendments adopted on the basis of Article 16 of the 2001 International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-fouling Systems on Ships, made in London on 5 October 2001.
Art. 5. The notices in the Belgian Monitor, referred to in articles 3 and 4, indicate the way in which the full version of the relevant international standards is accessible.
Promulgate this law, order that it be clothed with the seal of the State and published by the Belgian Monitor.
