PHILIPPE, King of the Belgians,
To all, present and to come, Hi.
The Chambers adopted and We sanction the following:
Article 1er. This Act regulates a matter referred to in Article 78 of the Constitution.
Art. 2. Section 41 of the Police Function Act of 5 August 1992 is replaced by the following:
"Art. 41. § 1er. Any police officer and police officer in service must be identified in all circumstances.
Police officers and uniformed police officers wear a visible and legible nameplate at a specific location of their uniform.
However, the Head of Body, the Commissioner General, the Director General or their delegate may, for some interventions, decide to replace the nameplate with an intervention number.
Unless the circumstances do not permit, police officers who intervene in civilian clothes with respect to a person, or at least one of them, wear a brazard indicating in a visible and legible manner the intervention number they hold.
Unless the circumstances do not permit, where a person in respect of whom they apply, police officers and police officers justify their quality by means of the legitimation card they bear.
The same is true when police officers or uniformed police officers appear at a person's home.
The intervention number referred to in paragraph 3 is a maximum number four digits, preceded by a code denoting the police area for the local police and a code denoting the service for the federal police.
The King sets out the modalities for identifying police officers and police officers in all circumstances.
§ 2. Without prejudice to Article 47bis, § 1er3, of the Code of Criminal Investigation, in cases where police officers or police officers intervene under an intervention number pursuant to § 1erthe initial minutes issued on this occasion do not mention their name."
Art. 3. The King shall determine the effective date of this Act.
Promulgate this law, order that it be clothed with the seal of the State and published by the Belgian Monitor.
