186. Ordinance of the Federal Minister of Education, Science and Culture on the uniform training in the area of library, information and documentation services for the library staff of the universities in accordance with the University Act 2002 and the University of Continuing Education Krems

On the basis of § 101 (3) of the University Act 2002, BGBl. I n ° 120, as last amended by the Federal Law BGBl. I n ° 96/2004 and the BGBl agreement. I No 116/2004, shall be assigned:

Scope

§ 1. This Regulation regulates the uniform training of staff in the Library, Information and Documentation Service (BID) of all universities in accordance with the Universities Act 2002 and the University of Continuing Education Krems pursuant to § 2 DUK Act 2004, BGBl. I n ° 22, for

1.

highly qualified areas of activity,

2.

qualified areas of activity and

3.

Areas of activity of medium qualification.

Scope of training

§ 2. The uniform training for the library, information and documentation service includes:

1.

Lectures and seminars in the form of training modules and

2.

a subject-specific internship.

Subject Areas

§ 3. (1) In the course of the training, the following areas of expertise shall be dealt with:

1.

Management-basics of library, information and documentation systems in Austria and abroad,

2.

Media-theoretical foundations,

3.

Media resolution,

4.

Information retrieval and

5.

Legal basis.

(2) The contents of the subject areas for highly qualified and qualified areas of activity shall be defined in the Appendix 1 and for medium-level activities in the Appendix 2 ,

Theoretical training

§ 4. (1) The uniform training in accordance with § 2 for the more highly qualified and qualified areas of activity shall take the form of the first part (basic course) of the inter-university university course Library and Information Studies MSc, which shall be provided by The universities of Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck and Salzburg are offered in cooperation with the Austrian National Library. The theoretical training lasts 60 days. According to the possibilities, cooperation with other providers of subject-specific training courses, e.g. universities of applied sciences of applied sciences or the University of Continuing Education Krems, can be received.

(2) The uniform training according to § 2 for the fields of activity of medium qualification is offered in cooperation with the Austrian National Library according to the requirements of the universities of Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck and Salzburg. The theoretical training lasts 30 days.

Internship

§ 5. (1) The subject-specific internship takes 100 days for the activities mentioned in § 1 Z 1 and 2, and is divided into

1.

Subject-specific application of the learned at its own or in a specialist workplace (40 days),

2.

Application of regulations for formal and content development, information exchange in the framework of elective subjects-in the form of own courses (15 days),

3.

Get to know different institutions in the library, information and documentation systems (25 days) and

4.

Project work (20 days).

(2) For the fields of activity referred to in § 1 Z 3, the subject-specific internship lasts 50 days and is divided into

1.

Get to know selected departments of the training library (10 days),

2.

Get to know different institutions in the library, information and documentation systems (5 days) and

3.

subject-specific application of the course of study at the company's own or a professional workplace (35 days).

Certificate

§ 6. The graduates are to be issued with a certificate of successful completion of the training.

Advisory Council

§ 7. (1) The Federal Minister for Education, Science and Culture is to set up an advisory board. In the sense of a comprehensive, uniform training, he is responsible for the content of the training courses, including the development of the curricula, the selection of the auditions and the definition of the examination procedures.

(2) The universities referred to in § 4 (1) and any cooperation partners shall each send a member with the training of the library staff and a substitute member.

(3) Up to four other relevant experts shall be appointed by common accord of the members referred to in paragraph 2 above.

Participation of persons who belong to the library staff of the universities

§ 8. (1) The respective rectorate shall decide on the participation of members of the library staff of the universities.

(2) The recognition of periods of practice as well as training contents, which a participant has completed by means of other training courses, shall be carried out by the rectorate of the respective university. Prior to recognition, an advisory opinion of the Advisory Board shall be obtained.

Participation of persons not belonging to the library staff of the universities

§ 9. (1) In the course of training or sharing of these training courses, persons who do not belong to the library staff of the universities and who are not members of the library staff may participate in the course of the training or on the basis of the respective costs. The area of activity is the necessary conditions.

(2) The recognition of periods of practice as well as training content, which a participant has completed by means of other training courses, shall be carried out by the Advisory Board established in accordance with Section 7 (1).

Teaching profession

§ 10. The successful completion of a commercial-administrative teaching profession with relevant specialization "Archive, Library and Information Assistance (ABI-Ass)", in particular according to the regulation of the Federal Minister of Economics and Labour, with the Training regulations for the teaching profession Archives, librarian and information assistant/archive, library and information assistant are issued, BGBl. II No 451/2004, replaces the training in the area of activity of medium-sized qualifications.

§ 11. This Regulation shall enter into force on 1 July 2005.
