On the occasion of the deposit of its instrument of accession, the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria made the following statements:

The Government of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria declares, in relation to Article 20 (2) of the Convention, that in any case the agreement of all the Parties concerned is necessary in order to make a dispute to the International Court of Justice or arbitration.

According to a further note by the Secretary-General, the People's Republic of China stated on 15 December 1999 that the Convention will continue to apply to the Macao Special Administrative Region.

In addition, the United Kingdom, on 12 December 2001, respectively, 27 November 2002 that the Convention on the island of Man or Guernsey will be used.
