58. Regulation of the Federal Minister for Agriculture, Forestry, the Environment and Water Management on the setting of conditions for quality wines typical of the region with origin profiles for the Weinviertel wine-growing region (DAC Regulation "Weinviertel")

Due to § 34 of the Weingesetz 2009, BGBl. I n ° 111, shall be assigned:

§ 1. Wine may be placed on the market under the name "DAC" or "Districtus Austriae Controllatus" in connection with the indication of the wine-growing area of Weinviertel, if it meets the requirements for quality wine and the following requirements:

1.

It must have been prepared exclusively from grapes harvested in the Weinviertel wine-growing area.

2.

The wine must have been prepared from the quality wine grape variety "Grüner Veltliner"; a label-harmless incision must be tolerated.

3.

Any indication of the vine variety or of a smaller geographical unit than the wine-growing region must be made in such a way that it is clearly subordinated to the indication of the wine-growing region.

4.

The content of unfermented sugar shall not exceed 6 g per litre.

5.

The actual alcoholic strength by volume shall be indicated on the label for wines up to the 2009 vintage, with at least 12% vol. For wines from the year 2010 onwards, the actual alcoholic strength by volume of 12.0% vol. or 12.5% vol. shall be indicated on the label. By decision of the Weinviertel Regional Wine Committee, the existing alcohol content on the label for wines from the 2010 vintage can also be indicated with 13.0% vol. in exceptional years. This decision shall be communicated to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management by 1 December of each harvest year at the latest.

It may only be delivered in glass bottles to the consumer, unless it is to be immediately enjoyed at the place of administration. In glass bottles, nominal volumes of 1.0 l and 2.0 l, as well as a cap with crown cork, are not allowed.

7.

It shall not be delivered to the consumer prior to 1 March of the year following the harvest. A request to obtain the state test number for wine with the sales designation "Weinviertel DAC" may not be before 1. Jänner of the year following the harvest will be placed.

8.

It must have the following typical characteristic:

-

Colour: light yellow, greenish yellow;

-

Odour: typical varietal bukett;

-

Flavor: fruity, spicy, peppery; no wooden shade; not one-sided alcohol-based;

-

no botrytis note.

9.

The indication of the wine-growing region, the specified region of Lower Austria and of large-scale plants is inadmissible. As smaller geographical units, only one municipality and one Riede can be specified.

10.

The indication of a further traffic description shall be prohibited (in particular, traffic names such as "quality wine", "cabinet" or "late harvest"). The names "DAC" or "Districtus Austriae Controllatus" shall be indicated on the label in direct relation to the specified region of the wine quarter and in characters not exceeding half the size of the indication for the indication "Weinviertel" used.

11.

The indication of the harvest year is compulsory.

12.

In the context of the award of the state test number, the wine is in sensory terms, if at least five of the six costers agree that it is marketable under the name "Weinviertel DAC". In the case of official samples and counter-samples, the general provisions of the Costing Regulation shall apply. In the case of a negative evaluation of the wine as "Weinviertel DAC" with a score of 4: 2, the sample of another wine tasting commission is to be presented again. In order to take advantage of the additional costs associated with the execution, the applicant has to pay a fee in accordance with the tariff regulation in accordance with the tariff regulation for the grant of the state test number.

13.

The state test number issued for a wine with the name "Weinviertel DAC" may only be used for the placing on the market of the wine tested under the name "Weinviertel DAC".

14.

In the context of the procedure for the award of the state test number for wine with the sales denomination "Weinviertel DAC", the Commission's tasting will be carried out exclusively at the external offices Retz and Poysdorf of the Federal Office for Viticulture.

15.

Wine with the name "Weinviertel DAC" is to be produced in the wine-growing region. A production outside the area may only be made with the approval of the Regional Wine Committee Weinviertel. Such authorisation may be granted, in particular, if the vineyard of the producer is situated in the wine district and the production of the wine is carried out in an operation of the manufacturer outside the wine quarter, or where land contracts are established between a manufacturer with an establishment outside the wine quarter and owners of vineyards in the Weinviertel region. The place of provenance, land number (s) and area (s) shall be shown on the invoices, delivery notes and transport documents to be paid.

16.

Wine with the sales designation "Weinviertel DAC" may only be transported with a state test number for "Weinviertel DAC". The same applies to all the carving parts of a wine with the sales designation "Weinviertel DAC", which is produced by cutting a number of partial quantities. The test number shall be indicated on the invoice, delivery note or other business documents.

§ 2. In the case of wines with the name "Weinviertel DAC", the use of the additional designation "Reserve" is possible under the following additional or different conditions:

A request to obtain the state test number for wine with the sales designation "Weinviertel DAC Reserve" must not be made before 15 March of the year following the harvest.

2.

In the context of the award of the state test number, the wine is in sensory terms, if at least four of the six koster agree that it is capable of transport under the name "Weinviertel DAC Reserve".

The bottling must be carried out within the manufacturing process and in the wine district. A bottling operation other than that of the production plant or a bottling outside the wine quarter may only be carried out with the approval of the Regional Wine Committee Weinviertel. In the case of the purchase of grapes, the invoice shall indicate "grapes for the DAC Reserve" and the natural mostweight, expressed in degrees Klosterneuburger Mostwaage. 4.

The additional name "reserve" shall be given in direct connection with the name "Weinviertel DAC", specifying the additional name "reserve" in characters of the same size as those for the indication "Weinviertel". used.

The national test number issued for a wine with the name "Weinviertel DAC" and the additional name "Reserve" may only be used for the placing on the market of the wine tested under the name "Weinviertel DAC Reserve" .

6.

"Weinviertel DAC Reserve" has the following wine type description: dense wine structure and long in the demise; dry; strong stylistics, where a delicate botrytis or wooden clay is permissible.

The actual alcoholic strength by volume must be at least 13.0% vol. on the label.

Companies that produce "Weinviertel DAC Reserve" from the 2012 vintage must be certified according to a regional quality management system, which was developed by the Regional Wine Committee Weinviertel and was carried out by an external auditor.
