236. Proclamation of the Federal Minister for arts and culture, constitutional and media regarding the scope of the Convention to the liberation of foreign public documents of the certification

After release of the Dutch Government, Austria has to following the 14th October 2014 amendment concerning article 3 § 1 of the Convention for the exemption of foreign public documents of the certification (Federal Law Gazette No. 27/1968, last proclamation of the scope BGBl. III No. 128/2014) announced for issuing the Apostille of competent Behörden1:

"The Austrian Federal Ministry for Europe, integration and exterior honoured to inform you that pursuant to paragraph 145 of the Apostille manual 2013 the Austrian embassies and professional consulates have the authority abroad with effect from 1 November 2014 to affix Apostilles on certain documents. These documents are taken from the Austrian Central civil status register, which contains documents of civil status and nationality documents, as well as criminal records or transmitted in electronic form.

List of documents:

              Birth certificates

              Marriage certificates

              Death certificates

              Proof of citizenship

              Confirmation of the departure from the State Association

              Criminal records extracts

The Apostille is attached directly or on a separate, inseparably associated with the document supplement on the above mentioned documents in the form of a label. A pattern of used Apostilles is closed with the information. The issuance of Apostilles by Austrian Honorar(General)konsulate is not allowed."
