COMPULSORY MEDICAL PROGRAMME

Total coverage for Ostomized Persons. Sanctioned: December 10, 2014 Enacted in Fact: January 09, 2015

The Senate and Chamber of Deputies of the Argentine Nation, meeting in Congress, etc., are sanctioned by law:

TOTAL COVERAGE OF DEVICES AND ACCESSORIES FOR OSTOMIZED PERSONS

ARTICLE 1-This law is intended to incorporate into the Mandatory Medical Program (PMO), the national public system, provincial social and mutual works, the total coverage of the devices or the bag for ostomies and the accessory elements necessary for the optimization of the tolerance of the bag, for those persons who have been subjected to a temporary or definitive ostomization suffering disorders, diseases or disorders in different organs and the promotion of actions teeth to their awareness and dissemination.

Article 2-Objectives: (a) To achieve the highest standard of quality of life for the patient population ostomized; (b) to promote accessibility to safe, effective and effective medical coverage; (c) to guarantee access to the entire population information, guidance and provision of services relating to the health of patients with ostomized patients; d) To incorporate necessary control mechanisms to ensure delivery in time and in the form of materials needed for people ostomized.

ARTICLE 3-The amount of devices that will be given monthly to the patient will depend on the needs of the patient according to the prescription of the medical professional.

ARTICLE 4 °-The technical and quality characteristics of the devices or bags and the accessories must ensure the tolerance of the body of the ostomized persons and their quality of life.

ARTICLE 5 °-The coverage of the total of the devices is intended for the universe that make up all the people with ostomy, including at least the benefits to be determined by the implementing authority.

ARTICLE 6-The coverage must be provided by an interdisciplinary team that guarantees the patient's physical health for his total rehabilitation and reintegration into social life.

ARTICLE 7 °-The Ministry of Health of the Nation will develop a clinical guide for national distribution in which the necessary care is specified to improve the quality of life of the ostomized people.

Article 8 °-The Ministry of Health of the Nation is recommended to include the essential information with indications of healthy habits for the care of the ostomized people. Promoting in the community spaces of reflection and action for the apprehension of basic knowledge linked to the problem.

ARTICLE 9 °-This law shall enter into force from the ninety (90) days of its promulgation.

ARTICLE 10. -Invite the provinces and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires to adhere to this law.

ARTICLE 11. -Contact the national executive branch.
