Decree 125/97

Please note that the Ministry of Culture of the Presidency of the Nation will call the national public competition for projects for the realization of the monument that perpetuates the memory of María Eva Duarte de Perón, in the City of Buenos Aires.

VISTO and CONSIDERING:

It is an inescapable duty of the National Government to keep the memory of Doña María Eva Duarte de Perón alive in the Argentine people.

That, in due course, the Honorable Congress of the Nation, through Law No. 23.376, provided for the erection of a monument to perpetuate the recognition of society for the work carried out in favor of the most humble and dispossessed sectors.

That this legal text also predicted that such a homage should be made in the City of Buenos Aires, somewhere close to those in which Mrs. Perón routinely carried out her transcendent humanitarian work.

That, in that sense, it is considered appropriate to propose the location of the site within the predio comprising the Avenida General Las Heras and the Libertador General San Martín and the streets Agüero and Austria.

On the other hand, it is appropriate to request the Autonomous Government of the City of Buenos Aires to take appropriate measures to that end.

That the present measure is in use of the emerging powers of Article 99, paragraph 1 and 2, of the National Constitution and those granted by Article 3 of Law No. 23,376.

THE PRESIDENT

OF ARGENTINA NATION

RIGHT:

Article 1- In compliance with the provisions of Act No. 23,376, the SECRETARIAT OF CULTURA of the PRESIDENCE OF THE NATION, in a maximum period of TREINTA (30) days counted from the date of publication of this Decree, will call for the national public contest of projects, for the realization of a monument that perpetuates the memory of Mrs. María Eva Duarte de Perón, in which only plastic artists can intervene.

Art. 2°The selection of the sculptural work will be carried out by a jury consisting of UN (I) representatives from each of the following jurisdictions: Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Culture and Education, and Juan Domingo Perón National Institute for Historical, Social and Political Studies and Research.

La SECRETARY OF CULTURE OF THE NATIONAL PRESIDENCE shall designate the members of the jury referred to in this article on the proposal of each of the above-mentioned entities.

Art. 3rd- The Ministry of the Interior will invite the HONORABLE CONGRESS of the NATION to appoint a representative for each Legislative Chamber for the purpose of integrating the jury.

Art. 4°- To the same ends and the Ministry of Culture and Education will be invited to the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the University of Buenos Aires and the University Institute of Art.

Art. 5°- The Ministry of the Interior will request the Government of the City of Buenos Aires to take the necessary measures in order to link the monument to Mrs. María Eva Duarte de Perón in the predio delimited by Avenida General Las Heras and the Libertador General San Martín and the streets Agüero and Austria.

Art. 6°-According to the PRESIDENCE SECRETARIAT OF THE NATION to dictate the complementary and clarification rules that it deems necessary for the implementation of this Decree.

Art. 7°- The expense that demands compliance with this Decree shall be charged to the provisions that, for this purpose, are assigned to the jurisdiction 2000 - NATIONAL PRESIDENCE.
