VISTO the request made by the Government of the Province of Tucumán, for the inclusion of women in the sponsorship currently made by the President of the Nation to the seventh male child, and

CONSIDERING:

That in 1907 the then President of the Nation, Dr. José Figueroa Alcorta, agreed to the first order of sponsorship requested by a resident of Russian nationality.

Since then, invariably, all the First Magistrates granted the sponsor, at the request of part, until this act became a traditional custom.

It is appropriate to give legal form, extending this benefit to women, in equal conditions than to men.

Therefore,

THE PRESIDENT OF THE ARGENTINA NATION

RIGHT:

Article 1 Artículo Institute the "Padrinazgo Presidencial" for the seventh children to which it corresponds, in accordance with the current laws, the status of native Argentines. Art. 2o o Spouses wishing to obtain the presidential sponsorship shall meet the following requirements:

(a) Having seven (7) male or seven (7) female daughters, all alive at the date of the seventh baptism, without any impediment that, interspersed among the seven males, any other being born of the female sex, or among women, any of the male sex;

(b) The patronage is granted to the seventh male son and/or the seventh female daughter, by chronological order of birth;

(c) The seven children shall be borne in lawful marriage or legitimized by link of their parents in accordance with existing laws, before the baptism of the seventh:

(d) Parents should establish good conduct and good moral concept;

(e) If these conditions are met, the person concerned shall refer to the Presidency of the Nation (General Directorate of Ceremonial and Audiences) a request in simple paper, in order to give him the corresponding procedure and signed by both spouses.

Art. 3o o The Presidential Padrinazgo consists of the award of a commemorative gold medal, whose characteristics will be established, in general, by the General Directorate of Ceremonial and Audiences of the Presidency of the Nation. Art. 4o — The President of the Nation shall determine the official or person who shall represent him in the religious act of baptism. Art. 5o o Let it be established that the Presidential Padrinazgo does not create any rights or benefits of any kind for the child or his relatives. Art. 6o o The expenditure required by the present provision shall be charged to the specific budget of the Presidency of the Nation. Art. 7o o This decree will be endorsed by the Ministers of the Interior and Foreign Affairs and Worship.
