Buenos Aires, December 22, 1953.

Views of decrees 24.144/1946 , 39.604/1947 , 39.656/1948 , 32.491/1949 , 27.412/1950 , 26.672/1951, 14.004/1952 for which bank holidays were declared for the purpose of the public's attention on the last working day of those years, requested by the Banking Association (Sociedad de Empleados de Banco), and

CONSIDERING:

That the measure preceded in cases the need to facilitate staff the exercise of their usual tasks sensibly reloaded on the date with the performance of work related to monthly, quarterly and annual balance sheets, interest counting, etc.

That the practice has credited the benefits that the same means for the employees of the banks to whom it allows to be reunited with their relatives in the traditional holidays of the end of the year.

That the same merited in its time the favorable reception of banking, official and private institutions.

That, as recommended by the Ministries of Finance and Labour and Providence, it is now up to its adoption on a permanent basis, which falls fully into the areas of the administering power.

Therefore,

THE PRESIDENT OF THE ARGENTINA NATION

RIGHT:

Article 1. ! Determine bank holidays throughout the country on December 31 or the last working day of each year. Art. 2. ! Staff employed by banks will attend that day to service within seven to fourteen hours. Art. 3. ! The timetable established may be modified only by joint resolution of the Ministries of Finance and Labour and Providence. With regard to the provinces and national territories, the amendment will be the resort of the respective Governments, provided that local needs make it essential. Art. 4. ! On 30 December or the penultimate working day of each year, the working day may be extended up to four (4) hours only to contribute to the preparation of the monthly, quarterly or annual balance sheets that will take the next day. Art. 5. ! The present decree shall be endorsed by the Ministers Secretaries of State in the Departments of Finance and Labour and Security. Art. 6. !
