1. Type of Activity to Develop

Combined Sea Training Exercise "UNITAS ANFIBIO-2006".

2. Origin of the Project

The UNITAS exercise, started in 1960, originally between the ARMADA of the United States of AMERICA and the Armed Forces of all countries of South America, bilaterally with each, with the purpose of providing the participants with the opportunity to conduct combined naval operations, to increase the operational capacities of their naval, air and marine infantry forces, to perfect the enlistment of the material and human resources involved, and to promote mutual trust, understanding and understanding.

The amphibian phase of this exercise was framed within the UNITAS operation, and since 1993, it was unfolded due to the advanced degree of technology and specialization in techniques and tactics, the amphibian activity being the most complex of naval operations in general.

During 2003 it was suspended because the ARMADA of the United States of AMERICA had all its amphibian means attached to higher priority tasks.

During 2004, the exercise was completed in a single phase across the American continent in the PERU REPUBLIC.

3. Principles of the Objectives of Activity:

The implementation of the UNITAS ANFIBIO Combined Exercise helps to increase the level of interoperability with the armed forces of the participating countries.

This is achieved through the exchange of information on the command and control systems of the naval means of surface, air and infantry of participating marines, of doctrines and procedures and of the combined training. The special feature of the media used by the ARMADA of the United States of AMERICA is its advanced technology, which allows us to appreciate and evaluate new technical capacities, as well as to increase the level of training and interoperability.

It is important to mention that ARMADA ARGENTINA does not have the specific means to perform this type of exercise, so it depends on those of other Armed Forces in order to maintain the training of its staff. In this context, tactics, doctrine and operational procedures for the use of naval forces are developed and improved and operations at sea are coordinated by involving a considerable number of ships of different types and aircraft based on land and on board.
