PERSONS WITH BAJA VISION Law 25.682 Adóptese, throughout the territory of the Argentine Republic, as an instrument of orientation and mobility for people with low vision, the use of the green cane. Sanctioned: November 27, 2002. Promulgated: December 27, 2002.

The Senate and Chamber of Deputies of the Argentine Nation assembled in Congress, etc., sanction with force of Law:

ARTICLE 1 Apply from this law, the use of the green stick throughout the territory of the Argentine Republic as an instrument of orientation and mobility for people with low vision.

The same will have the same characteristics in weight, length, elastic grip, rebatibility and fluorescent ring as the white sticks used by blind people.

ARTICLE 2 The use of the green can be made of visually impaired persons who credit it in accordance with article 3 of Law 22.431, and are covered by the conditions and characteristics identified by the World Health Organization for persons with low vision.

ARTICLE 3 The green cane shall be regarded as an element and/or instrument of support under article 35 of Law 24,901 and its coverage shall be mandatory for all the agents mentioned in articles 2 and 3 of the Act.

ARTICLE 4 Let the national executive branch implement the necessary mechanisms for the implementation of a massive national dissemination campaign on the advantages of the use of the green cane for people with low vision and their meaning for the understanding of the entire citizenry.

ARTICLE 5° Contact the Executive.
