COMPLEMENTARY AGREEMENT TO THE PROTOCOL OF JURISDICCIONAL COOPERATION AND ASSISTANCE IN CIVIL, COMMERCIAL, LABORAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE MATERIA

The Governments of the Argentine Republic, the Federal Republic of Brazil, the Republic of Paraguay and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, henceforth the "States Parties";

CONSIDERING that the Treaty of Asuncion, signed on 26 March 1991, establishes the commitment of States parties to harmonize their legislation in the relevant areas;

RECALLING the willingness of States parties to obtain common legal solutions for the strengthening of the integration process;

TENIENDO EN CONCERNS the need to deepen the process of judicial cooperation in civil, commercial, labour and administrative matters, initiated with the signing of the Las Leñas Protocol;

CONVENTED with the importance of adopting common rules to expedite such cooperation;

ACUERDAN:

ARTICLE 1

To approve the forms that, from number 1 to 11, form the Annex to this Agreement Supplementary to the Protocol of Cooperation and Jurisdictional Assistance in Civil, Commercial, Labour and Administrative Matters, approved in Las Leñas, Province of Mendoza, Argentine Republic, on 27 June 1992.

ARTICLE 2

This Agreement shall be subject to the constitutional procedures of each State Party and shall enter into force 30 (treinth) days after the deposit of the second instrument of ratification. For States Parties ratifying it subsequently, 30 (treinth) days after deposit of the respective instrument of ratification shall enter into force.

ARTICLE 3

The Government of the Republic of Paraguay shall be the depositary of this Agreement and of the instruments of ratification and shall transmit the copies duly authenticated to the Governments of the other States Parties.

The Government of the Republic of Paraguay shall also notify the Governments of the other States Parties of the dates of the entry into force of this Agreement and of the deposit of instruments of ratification.

HEAR in the city of Asunción, on June 19th, nine hundred and ninety-seven, in an original in the Spanish and Portuguese languages, both texts being equally authentic.
