DECISION No. 39/2001/QD-TTg of March 23, 2001 on the establishment of Northwest University

To establish Northwest University on the basis of Northwest Teachers� College. The headquarter of the University shall be located in Son La province.

Northwest University is tasked to:

- Train personnel of university and college levels

- Provide professional fostering for officials and employees

- Conduct scientific researches, technology transfer and provide technical services for socio-economic development of the northwestern region.

Northwest University shall be placed under the management of the Ministry of Education and Training.- (Summary)
