Rule §84.108 Progress

Appropriate standards shall be implemented to ascertain the
progress of the students.
  (1) Progress standards shall meet the requirements
of the Program of Instruction for Driver Education and Traffic Safety
approved by the commissioner of education.
  (2) Each primary school shall submit to the division
for approval procedures to ensure that each student who attends the
primary school and all branch schools demonstrates an acceptable level
of mastery of the Program of Instruction for Driver Education and
Traffic Safety. Mastery is not related to passing the written examination
for a driver's license administered by the Texas Department of Public
Safety. Successful completion and mastery are prerequisites to awarding
a grade of 70% or above.
  (3) One or more of the following methods shall determine
evidence of successful completion and mastery:
    (A) unit tests;
    (B) written assignments;
    (C) skills performance checklist; and
    (D) comprehensive examinations of knowledge and skills.
  (4) The instructor must certify that each student successfully
mastered all course content before the student is awarded successful
completion of a driver education program.
