   § 23-27.3-108.1.3  New materials and

methods of construction. –

The building official shall accept duly authenticated reports from the

committee on all new materials and methods of construction proposed for use

which are not specifically provided for in this code. Wherever there is

insufficient evidence that any material or method of construction conforms to

the requirements of this code, or there is insufficient evidence to

substantiate claims for alternative materials or construction, the committee

may require tests to determine whether the proposal meets the functional

requirements of this code, and the tests shall be conducted by a laboratory,

agency, and/or personnel approved by the committee. The costs of all the tests

or other investigations required under these provisions shall be paid by the

applicant.
