(A) Phased implementation of assessment system.

(1) Students entering ninth grade for the first time on or after July 1, 2014, shall be subject to the college and work ready assessment system in accordance with division (B) of section 3301.0712 of the Revised Code. For students that entered ninth grade before July 1, 2014, the Ohio graduation tests required by division (B)(1) of section 3301.0710 of the Revised Code shall be available for retake opportunities until September 1, 2022. The department of education shall determine the administration schedule and administration method for all administrations of the Ohio graduation tests after July 1, 2018.

(2) After September 1, 2022, all students shall meet the requirements of the college and work ready assessment system.

(3) Any student meeting the description in paragraph (A)(1) of this rule who receives high school credit prior to January 31, 2015, for a physical science, American history, or American government course or who receives high school credit prior to July 1, 2015 for a biology course, for which an end-of-course examination is prescribed by division (B)(2) of section 3301.0712 of the Revised Code shall not be required to take that end-of-course examination.

(a) Receipt of credit for that course shall satisfy the requirement to take the end-of-course examination.

(b) In determining whether that student has attained the cumulative score prescribed by division (B)(5)(c) section 3301.0712 of the Revised Code, that student shall be considered to have attained a proficient score on the exempted examination.

(B) Foreign exchange student excusal from American history and American government end-of-course examinations.

(1) Paragraph (B) of this rule applies to students who meet all of the criteria set forth in division (H) of section 3313.61 of the Revised Code.

(2) Students who are subject to this section are not required to:

(a) Take any American history end-of-course examination and any American government end-of-course examination required under division (B) of section 3301.0712 of the Revised Code;

(b) Achieve any minimum cumulative score not adjusted to account for the end of course exam exemptions; or

(c) Achieve any content area score set by the state board not adjusted to account for the end of course exam exemptions.

(C) Adult diploma students.

(1) For students that pursue a diploma of adult education as prescribed by section 3313.611 of the Revised Code, the Ohio graduation tests required by division (B)(1) of section 3301.0710 of the Revised Code shall be available for eligible students until September 1, 2022.

(2) After September 1, 2022, students shall meet the requirements of the college and work ready assessment system to receive a diploma of adult education.
