INJECTION WELLS

 

15A NCAC 02C .0201       PURPOSE

The rules in this Section establish classes of injection

wells and set forth requirements and procedures for permitting, constructing,

operating, monitoring, reporting, and abandoning approved types of injection

wells and abandoning, monitoring, and reporting non-permitted wells used for

the injection of wastes or any substance of a composition and concentration

such that, if it were discharged to the land or waters of the state, would

adversely affect human health or would otherwise render those waters unsuitable

for their best intended usage.  Except as provided for in G.S. 143-215.1A, the

discharge of any wastes to the subsurface by means of wells is prohibited by

G.S. 143‑214.2(b).
