The Department of Economic Development, in exercise of the power conferred on it by Article 1(3) of the Offshore, and Pipelines, Safety (Northern Ireland) Order 1992(1) and paragraph 2(1) of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974(2) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation
1. This Order may be cited as the Offshore, and Pipelines, Safety (1992 Order) (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996.
Appointed day
2. The day appointed for the coming into operation of Article 4(3)(3) of the Offshore, and Pipelines, Safety (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 is 14th July 1996.

Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Order.)
This Order brings into operation on 14th July 1996 the last remaining provision, paragraph (3) of Article 4, of the Offshore, and Pipelines, Safety (Northern Ireland) Order 1992. That paragraph, as amended, provides that certain Articles of, and Schedules to, the Gas (Northern Ireland) Order 1996, and any Regulations made or having effect under those provisions, shall have effect as if they were “existing statutory provisions” of the Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978.
Regulations made under the Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978 may, amongst other things, repeal or modify any “existing statutory provisions” of that Order.
