Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 5(1) of the Extradition Act 1989(1), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Extradition (Designated Commonwealth Countries) Order 1991 (Amendment) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 18th March 1996.

2.  The Extradition (Designated Commonwealth Countries) Order 1991(2) shall be amended by inserting the words “South Africa” under the words “Solomon Islands” in Schedule 1 to that Order which lists countries designated for the purposes of section 1(2) of the Extradition Act 1989.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order designates South Africa as a Commonwealth country for the time being mentioned in Schedule 3 to the British Nationality Act 1981 (c. 61) for the purposes of the Extradition Act 1989.
