The A1 Trunk Road (Barnet) (50mph Speed Limit) Order 1996

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 84(1)(a), (2) and 124, and paragraph 27(1) of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the A1 Trunk Road (Barnet) (50mph Speed Limit) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 19th February 1996.

2.  No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour on the length of road specified in the Schedule to this Order.

3.  The Trunk Roads (Speed Limits) (No. 1) Order 1972(2), shall be varied so that paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 shall not apply to the length of the road specfied in the Schedule to this Order.

SCHEDULE
That length of the A1 Trunk Road in the London Borough of Barnet known in part as Great North Way, in part as Watford Way and in part as Barnet Way which extends from its junction with the London North Circular Trunk Road (A406) to a point 200 metres north of the centre line of the pedestrian subway opposite Courtland Avenue, Mill Hill, a distance of approximately 6.2 kilometres.
