The Department of Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 2(3), 5(1), 10(6), 12(1), 14, 19(e), (f) and (k) and 60(1) of the Diseases of Animals (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Specified Diseases (Notification and Movement Restrictions) (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 10th October 1996.

Amendment of the Specified Diseases (Notification and Movement Restrictions) Order (Northern Ireland) 1991

2.  In the Specified Diseases (Notification and Movement Restrictions) Order (Northern Ireland) 1991(2) in Schedule 1 (specified diseases) after Item 7 there shall be inserted the following Items—

“7A.
Jaagsiekte complex
Sheep and goats

7B.
Johne’s disease
Sheep and goats.”

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)
This Order amends the Specified Diseases (Notification and Movement Restrictions) Order (Northern Ireland) 1991 (“the 1991 Order”) by adding to the list of specified diseases in Schedule 1, Jaagsiekte complex and Johne’s disease in sheep and goats. The effect is to make these diseases, where they affect sheep and goats, subject to the controls specified in the 1991 Order.
