Roads (Speed Limit) (No. 7) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 50(4)(c) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Roads (Speed Limit) (No. 7) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 18th November 1996.

Speed restrictions on certain roads

2.  The Department hereby directs that each of the roads and lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 shall be a restricted road for the purposes of Article 50 of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981.

Revocations

3.  The provisions described in Schedule 2 are hereby revoked.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)
This Order makes the roads and lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 restricted roads, thereby imposing a 30 miles per hour speed limit on those roads.
The roads and lengths of road to which the items revoked under paragraphs 1, 2 (item 53), 7 (item 186) and 8 (items 140 and 142) of Schedule 2 relate have been renamed and are now comprised in item Nos. 42, 34, 36, 74, 83, 69, 95, 93 and 92 respectively of Schedule 1.
The length of road to which the item revoked under paragraph 2 (item 54) of Schedule 2 relates has been renamed and is now comprised in part of the lengths of road described in item Nos. 67 and 86 and in the length of road described in item No. 78 of Schedule 1.
The lengths of road to which the items revoked under paragraphs 3, 4 (item 23), 6, 8 (item 8) and 9 of Schedule 2 relate are now comprised in greater lengths of road described in item Nos. 87, 88, 43, 49, 57, 9, 63 and 64 respectively of Schedule 1.
The roads to which the items revoked under paragraphs 4 (item 246) and 5 of Schedule 2 relate are now comprised in item Nos. 82 and 80 respectively of Schedule 1.
The length of road to which the item revoked under paragraph 7 (item 27) of Schedule 2 relates has been realigned and is redescribed in item No. 89 of Schedule 1.
