Whereas the Secretary of State for Education has received a proposal from the Further Education Funding Council, made in accordance with section 51 of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992(1) (“the Act”), for the establishment of a body corporate under section 16(1)(a) of the Act;

Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred on her by sections 16(1) and 17 of the Act and for the purpose of giving effect to that proposal, the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:
1.  This Order may be cited as the Teesside Tertiary College (Incorporation) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 15th June 1995 (“the Commencement Date”).

2.  On the Commencement Date there shall be established a body corporate called “Teesside Tertiary College” for the purpose of establishing and conducting from the operative date a new educational institution of that name (to be formed by the merger of Longlands College of Further Education and Marton Sixth Form College).

3.  The “operative date” in relation to the further education corporation established by this Order shall be 1st August 1995, and the corporation shall conduct Teesside Tertiary College from that date.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order establishes a further education corporation under section 16(1) of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 for the purpose of establishing and conducting Teesside Tertiary College and appoints 1st August 1995 as the “operative date” for the purposes of Part I of that Act.
