In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Secretary of State by sections 1 and 3(4) of the Education (Grants and Awards) Act 1984(1), the Secretary of State for Education hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation, commencement and application

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Grants for Education Support and Training) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 1995 and shall come into force on 1st August 1995.

(2) These Regulations apply in relation to local education authorities in England.

Amendment of the Education (Grants for Education Support and Training) (England) Regulations 1995

2.  The Education (Grants for Education Support and Training) (England) Regulations 1995(2) shall be amended as follows.

3.  In regulation 5(2) there shall be substituted for the words “8 and 20” the words “8, 20 and 21”.

4.  In the Schedule after paragraph 20 there shall be inserted the following paragraph—

“21.  The provision of courses for the training of specialist teacher assistants to provide assistance and support for qualified teachers in teaching subjects including reading, writing and mathematics to primary school pupils.”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Education (Grants for Education Support and Training) (England) Regulations 1995 to enable grant to be paid for or in connection with providing training courses as described in the Regulations for specialist teacher assistants in primary schools.
