The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 7(4) and (5) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971(1), on the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs (Designation) (Variation) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 1st September 1995.

2.  The Misuse of Drugs (Designation) Order 1986(2) shall be varied by the insertion, in paragraph 1(a) of Part I of the Schedule after the words “Cannabinol derivatives”, of the words “not being dronabinol or its stereoisomers”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order varies the Misuse of Drugs (Designation) Order 1986 by removing from Part I of the Schedule (which specifies the controlled drugs which are designated as drugs to which section 7(4) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 applies) dronabinol and its stereoisomers.
