The Dolgellau to South of Birkenhead Trunk Road (A494) (Improvement at Nantclwyd Bridge) Order 1995

The Secretary of State for Wales makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by section 10 of the Highways Act 1980(1) and of all other enabling powers:—

1.  The new highways which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the routes described in Schedule 1 to this Order shall become trunk roads as from the date when this Order comes into force.

2.  The centre lines of the new trunk roads are indicated by heavy black lines on the deposited plan.

3.  The length of trunk road described in Schedule 2 to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall become an unclassified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Clwyd that the new trunk roads are open for through traffic.

4.  In this Order:—

All measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;

i.“the deposited plan” means the plan numbered HA 10/2 WO 106 marked “The Dolgellau to South of Birkenhead Trunk Road (A494) (Improvement at Nantclwyd Bridge) Order 1995” signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Wales and deposited at the Welsh Office Repository, Curran Embankment, Cardiff.

ii.“the new trunk roads” means the highways mentioned in article 1 of this Order and “a new trunk road” means one of those highways;

iii.“the trunk road” means the Dolgellau to South of Birkenhead Trunk Road (A494).

5.  This Order shall come into force on 31st August 1995 and may be cited as the Dolgellau to South of Birkenhead Trunk Road (A494) (Improvement at Nantclwyd Bridge) Order 1995.

SCHEDULE 1ROUTES OF THE NEW TRUNK ROADS

The routes of the new trunk roads are routes at Nantclwyd, Ruthin in the county of Clwyd as follows:—
A route about 0.79 kilometres (0.49 miles) in length, commencing at a point on the trunk road 715 metres south-west of the centre of Pont Nantclwyd and terminating at a point on the trunk road 140 metres north-east of the centre of Pont Nantclwyd. (This route being given the reference numbers 1 and 2 on the deposited plan).
A route about 0.12 kilometres (0.08 miles) in length, commencing at a point on the trunk road 240 metres north-east of the centre of Pont Nantclwyd and terminating at a point on the trunk road 375 metres north-east of the centre of Pont Nantclwyd. (This route being given the reference numbers 3 and 4 on the deposited plan).


SCHEDULE 2LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The length of trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is that length which extends for 0.12 kilometres between a point on the trunk road 425 metres south-west of Pont Nantclwyd and a point on the trunk road 305 metres south-west of Pont Nantclwyd.
