The Probation (Amendment) Rules 1995

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 25(1)(c) of the Probation Service Act 1993(1), hereby makes the following Rules:

1.  These Rules may be cited as the Probation (Amendment) Rules 1995 and shall come into force on 4th December 1995.

2.  In the Probation Rules 1984(2) rule 26 shall be omitted.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Rules)
These Rules revoke rule 26 of the Probation Rules 1984 which provides that a person cannot be a probation officer unless he or she has been awarded a Certificate of Qualification in Social Work by the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work or a qualification approved by the Council as being equivalent to the Certificate.
