Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 15(4) of the Merchant Shipping (Liner Conferences) Act 1982(1), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Liner Conferences) (Hong Kong) (Amendment) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 4th April 1990.

2.  The Merchant Shipping (Liner Conferences) (Hong Kong) Order 1985(2) shall have effect subject to the amendments specified in the Schedule hereto.

Article 2
SCHEDULE

1.  In Part A of the Schedule to the Order, in section 7(5) for the words “sections 6(1) and 6A(1) of” there shall be substituted the words “section 6(1) of, and article 8(1) of the Fifth Schedule to,” and for the words “also provide for the staying of legal proceedings” there shall be substituted “provide respectively for the staying of legal proceedings and for the parties to an action to be referred to arbitration”.

2.  The amendments to the Act specified in this Schedule shall come into force on such day as the Governor of Hong Kong may by order appoint.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)
This amendment to the Merchant Shipping (Liner Conferences) (Hong Kong) Order 1985 is consequential upon the enactment in Hong Kong of the Arbitration (Amendment) (No. 2) Ordinance 1989 (64 of 1989).
