By the Lords of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council

Whereas in pursuance of section 32 of the Medical Act 1983(1) the General Medical Council have made the Medical Practitioners Registration (Fees) (Amendment) No. 2 Regulations 2000 as set out in the Schedule to this Order:
And whereas by subsection (8) of the said section such regulations shall not have effect until approved by Order of the Privy Council:

Now, therefore, Their Lordships, having taken the said regulations into consideration, in exercise of the powers conferred by the said section 32(8), do hereby order as follows:

1.  The said regulations are hereby approved.

2.  This Order may be cited as the General Medical Council (Registration (Fees) (Amendment) No. 2 Regulations) Order of Council 2000.

SCHEDULETHE MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS REGISTRATION (FEES) (AMENDMENT) NO. 2 REGULATIONS 2000

The General Medical Council in exercise of their powers under section 32 of the Medical Act 1983 hereby make the following regulations:—
Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) These regulations may be cited as the Medical Practitioners Registration (Fees) (Amendment) No. 2 Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 4th December 2000.

(2) In these regulations “the principal regulations” means the Medical Practitioners Registration (Fees) Regulations 1985(2).

2.  For regulation 4(2) of the principal regulations there shall be substituted the following:

“(2) The fee for making an entry in the register shall be:—

(a)On provisional registration under section 15 of the Act ... ... ... ... £100

(b)On provisional registration under section 15A of the Act ... ... ... ... £100

(c)On provisional registration under section 21 of the Act ... ... ... ...£100

(d)On full registration under section 3 of the Act:

(i)in the case of a person who is or has at any time been provisionally registered ... ... ... ... £170

(ii)in the case of any other person ... ... ... ... £170 except in the case of a person who is already fully registered when no fee shall be payable

(e)On full registration under section 19 of the Act

(i)in the case of a person who is or has at any time been provisionally registered ... ... ... ... £170

(ii)in the case of any other person ... ... ... ... £170

(f)On full registration by virtue of section 25 of the Act ... ... ... ... £170

(g)On registration under section 27 of the Act ... ... ... ...£170.”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)
The Regulations approved by this Order amend regulation 4(2) of the principal regulations to provide for the payment of a fee for provisional registration by doctors so registered under section 15A of the Medical Act 1983, inserted by the Medical Act 1983 (Provisional Registration) Regulations 2000.
