The Police Act 1997 (Commencement No. 6) Order 1999

In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 135 of the Police Act 1997(1), the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Police Act 1997 (Commencement No. 6) Order 1999.

2.  Sections 91(10), 92 to 95, 96 so far as not already in force, 97 to 100 and 102 to 108 of, and Schedule 7 to, the Police Act 1997(2) shall come into force on 22nd February 1999.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force those provisions not already in force of Part III of the Police Act 1997, which makes provision for the authorisation, in specified circumstances, of the entry on or interference with property or wireless telegraphy on the application of a member of a police force, or of the National Criminal Intelligence Service or the National Crime Squad, or of a customs officer. Part III, and most of the provisions of Part I, II, IV and VI, have now been brought into force: see the Police Act 1997 (Commencement No. 5 and Transitional Provisions) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/354).
