The Social Security Benefits Up-rating (No. 2) Order 1999

Coming into force in accordance with the provisions of article 1(2)

Whereas, the Secretary of State for Social Security having been satisfied that a mistake occurred in the preparation of a previous order under section 150 of the Social Security Administration Act 1992(1), a draft of the following Order was laid before Parliament in accordance with the provisions of sections 152(1) and 190(1)(a) of that Act and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament;

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State for Social Security, with the consent of the Treasury(2), in exercise of the powers conferred by section 152(1) and 189(1), (3) and (4) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Social Security Benefits Up-rating (No. 2) Order 1999.

(2) This Order shall come into force immediately after the coming into force of article 3 of the Social Security Up-rating Order 1999(3) (increase in rates or amounts of certain benefits under the Contributions and Benefits Act).

Amendment to Schedule 4 to the Contributions and Benefits Act 1992

2.  In paragraph 11 of Part V of Schedule 4 to the Contributions and Benefits Act(4) (rates of industrial injuries benefit: widower’s pension), for the sum of £66.25 there shall be substituted the sum of £66.75.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
This Order is made under section 152(1) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992 (c. 5). That section enables the Secretary of State, on being satisfied that a mistake has occurred in the preparation of an order under section 150 of the Social Security Administration Act 1992, to vary the amount of any one of the sums specified in an enactment mentioned in subsection (1)(a) of that section.
The amount specified in paragraph 11 of Part V of the Schedule 4 to the Contributions and Benefits Act 1992 (c. 4) (rates of industrial injuries benefit: widower’s pension) is varied from £66.25 to £66.75.
This Order does not impose a charge on business.
