The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 15(2) of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997(1), hereby makes the following Order—

1.  This Order may be cited as the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1998.

2.  Subsections (3) to (9) of section 3 of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 shall come into force on 1st September 1998.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order provides that subsections (3) to (9) of section 3 of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 shall come into force on 1st September 1998.
Note as to Earlier Commencement Orders

Sections 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7 to 12 of the Act were brought into force on 16th June 1997 by the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 (Commencement) (No. 1) Order 1997 (S.I. 1997/1418).
Sections 3(1) and (2) and 6 of the Act were brought into force on 16th June 1997 by the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 (Commencement) (No. 2) Order 1997 (S.I. 1997/1498).
(Sections 13 to 16 of the Act came into force at Royal Assent on 21st March 1997).
