In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 4(2) of the Education Act 1994(1) the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Education (Funding for Teacher Training) Designation (No. 2) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 22nd September 1998.

2.  The Centre for Information on Language Teaching and Research, a registered charity(2), is hereby designated as an institution eligible for funding under Part 1 of the Education Act 1994.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order designates the Centre for Information on Language Teaching and Research (“the Centre”), a registered charity with educational objects, as an institution eligible for funding under Part 1 of the Education Act 1994.
As a result of this Order, the Teacher Training Agency may make grants, loans or other payments in respect of expenditure incurred or to be included by the Centre for the purposes of the provision of teacher training and the provision of facilities, and the carrying on of other activities, which the Centre consider it necessary or desirable to provide or carry on for the purposes of or in connection with the provision of teacher training.
