The Dissolution of the Broadcasting Complaints Commission and the Broadcasting Standards Council Order 1998

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 128(3) and (6) of the Broadcasting Act 1996(1), and having consulted the Broadcasting Complaints Commission, the Broadcasting Standards Council and the Broadcasting Standards Commission, hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Dissolution of the Broadcasting Complaints Commission and the Broadcasting Standards Council Order 1998.

2.  The Broadcasting Complaints Commission and the Broadcasting Standards Council Order are hereby dissolved with effect from 1st December 1998.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)
The property, rights and liabilities of the Broadcasting Complaints Commission and the Broadcasting Standards Council were transferred to the Broadcasting Standards Commission on 1st April 1997. The Secretary of State having satisfied himself, after consulting the Broadcasting Complaints Commission, the Broadcasting Standards Council and the Broadcasting Standards Commission, that nothing further remains to be done by the Broadcasting Complaints Commission or the Broadcasting Standards Council under or by virtue of Schedule 4 to the Broadcasting Act 1996, dissolves the Broadcasting Complaints Commission and the Broadcasting Standards Council by means of this Order.
