Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)
These Regulations amend the Hill Livestock (Compensatory Allowances) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 (“the principal Regulations”) as amended, which comply with the Community Legislation mentioned in the first paragraph of the Explanatory Note thereto.
These Regulations set the rates of payment in respect of the 1998 Scheme year for the annual compensatory allowance for certain breeding cows and ewes payable under regulation 3 of the principal Regulations. The cattle rates are reduced when compared to the comparable rates in respect of the 1997 Scheme year by about 59%.
