In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 1A(1) and (2) of the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987(1), the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Immigration (Transit Visa) (Amendment) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 5th February 1998.

2.  Article 2 of the Immigration (Transit Visa) Order 1993(2) shall be amended by the insertion, after the words “to this Order”, of the words “, or a person holding a travel document issued by the purported “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”,”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order amends the Immigration (Transit Visa) Order 1993 (as amended by the Immigration (Transit Visa) (Amendment) Order 1996) so as to require holders of travel documents issued by the purported “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” to have a visa for passing through the United Kingdom.
