ENERGY CONSERVATION
The Social Security Act 1990 (Commencement No.6) Order 1997

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 23(2) of the Social Security Act 1990(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Social Security Act 1990 (Commencement No.6) Order 1997.

Appointed day

2.  9th June 1997 is appointed as the day for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Social Security Act 1990:–

(a)section 15(11);

(b)Schedule 7, so far as relating to the repeal of sections 252 and 253 of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987(2); and

(c)section 21(2), so far as relating to the provisions mentioned in paragraph (b) above.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order provides that 9th June 1997 shall be the appointed day for the coming into force of the provisions of the Social Security Act 1990 listed in article 2. All those provisions relate to the repeal of the following provisions of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 – section 252 (schemes for grants for thermal insulation) and section 253 (finance and administration of schemes under section 252).
